Numbers 28-29

Numbers 28

The Daily Offerings

1 The Lord spoke to Moses and said, 2 “Address the Israelites and give them these instructions: ‘Be careful to observe the schedule of presenting my offering and my bread for my sacrifices made by fire, which is a sweet aroma to me.’

3 Tell them, ‘This is the offering made by fire which you shall present to the Lord: two lambs, one year old and without defect, each day as a continual burnt offering. 4 You shall offer one lamb in the morning and the other lamb at evening, 5 with one half gallon of fine flour for a grain offering, mixed with two pints of pure olive oil.

6 This is a continual burnt offering which was ordained in Mount Sinai to be a sweet aroma, a sacrifice made by fire to the Lord. 7 In the holy sanctuary, you must have two pints per lamb of the strong wine poured out to the Lord as a drink offering. 8 And the other lamb, you shall offer at evening: the same grain offering and drink offering as the morning. It is an offering made by fire, as a sweet aroma to the Lord.

The Sabbath Offerings

9 On the Sabbath day, you shall present two lambs, one year old and without defect, and one gallon of fine flour mixed with oil, for a grain offering, and its drink offering. 10 This is the burnt offering for every Sabbath, in addition to the regular burnt offering with its drink offering.

The Monthly Offerings

11 On the first day of every month, you shall present a burnt offering to the Lord: two young bulls, one ram, seven male lambs, one year old and without defect, 12 and one and a half gallons of fine flour for a grain offering mixed with oil, for each bull; and one gallon of fine flour for a grain offering mixed with oil, for the one ram; 13 and two quarts of fine flour mixed with oil for a grain offering for each lamb. It is a burnt offering, a sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to the Lord.

14 Their drink offerings shall be two quarts of wine for a bull, two and a third pints for the ram, and two pints for a lamb. This is the burnt offering for every month of the year. 15 Also, one male goat for a sin offering to the Lord shall be offered in addition to the continual burnt offering and its drink offering.

The Passover

16 The fourteenth day of the first month is the Passover of the Lord. 17 And the fifteenth  day of this month is the Feast. For seven days, you shall eat unleavened bread.

18 On the first day you shall hold a sacred assembly. You shall do no regular work, 19 but you shall present an offering made by fire, a burnt offering to the Lord: two young bulls, one ram, and seven male lambs a year old. They shall be without defect, 20 with their grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil. You shall offer one and a half gallons for a bull, and one gallon for the ram. 21 You shall offer two quarts for every lamb of the seven lambs; 22 and one male goat for a sin offering, to make atonement for yourselves.

23 You shall offer these in addition to the morning burnt offering, which is for a continual burnt offering. 24 In this way you shall offer daily, for seven days, the food of the offering made by fire, as a pleasant aroma to the Lord. It shall be offered in addition to the continual burnt offering and its drink offering. 25 On the seventh day you shall hold a sacred assembly. You shall do no regular work.

The Feast of Weeks

26 Also on the day of the First Fruits, during your Feast of Weeks, when you present a new grain offering to the Lord, you shall hold a sacred assembly. You shall do no regular work, 27 but you shall present a burnt offering for a pleasant aroma to the Lord: two young bulls, one ram, seven male lambs a year old; 28 and their grain offering, fine flour mixed with oil, one and a half gallons for each bull, one gallon for the one ram, 29 two quarts for every lamb of the seven lambs; 30 and one male goat, to make atonement for yourselves. 31 You shall offer these and the drink offering in addition to the daily burnt offering and grain offering. See that they are without defect.

5 Also, offer one male goat for a sin offering, to make atonement for yourselves. 6 These are in addition to the burnt offering of the new moon with its grain offering, and the continual burnt offering with its grain offering, and their drink offerings, according to their ordinance, for a pleasant aroma, an offering made by fire to the Lord.

Psalm 62

Waiting on God

For the Chief Musician. To Jeduthun. A Psalm by David.

1 My soul rests in God alone.
My salvation is from him.
2 He alone is my rock, my salvation, and my fortress.
I will never be greatly shaken.

3 How long will you assault a man?
Would all of you throw him down,
like a leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
4 They fully intend
to throw him down from his lofty place.
They delight in lies.
They bless with their mouth,
but they curse inwardly.

Selah.

5 My soul, wait in silence for God alone,
for my expectation is from him.
6 He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress.
I will not be shaken.
7 My salvation and my honor is with God.
The rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
8 Trust in him at all times, you people.
Pour out your heart before him.
God is a refuge for us.

Selah.

9 Surely men of low degree are just a breath,
and men of high degree are a lie.
In the balances they will go up.
They are together lighter than a breath.
10 Do not trust in oppression.
Do not become worthless in robbery.
If riches increase,
do not set your heart on them.

11 The Lord has spoken once;
twice I have heard this,
that power belongs to the Lord.
12 Also to you, Lord, belongs loving kindness,
for you reward every man according to his work.

Proverbs 11:18-19

18 Wicked people earn deceitful wages,
but one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
19 He who is truly righteous gets life.
He who pursues evil gets death.
